Haldia has a respectable sports infrastructure in place courtesy the Haldia Development Authority. A big stadium hat can accommodate 12,000 people at a time has been built by the Haldia Development Authority in Durgachak, the very heat and nerve center of Haldia. Efforts are on to promote water sports in the region and for this special facilities are being developed on the riverfront.

Another great work done by the Haldia Development Authority is the construction of Sanghati Maidan. A huge ground that spreads to a total of 45 acre, it has been built keeping in mind the needs of local people. Common ublic spends time in this ground by taking a walk, playing different sports or by just spending time sitting in the mainda in the evenings.

Though envisioned a ling time back and it is still to take shape, a one of its kind International Sports City has planned for Haldia. It has been planned jointly by Sristi Infrastructure Development Coporation Ltd and Haldia Development Authority. It is proposed to be built over 65 acres of land and would involve an investment of Rs 750 crores. The project has provision to build an international class cricket stadium with a seating capacity of around 35,000. It will have all the modern facilities such as swimming pool, practice grounds, a gymnasium, a sports training academy and many other facilities.

There is a lot to look forward to for spots enthusiasts in Haldia. The current sports infrastructure is satisfactory and people participate in various kind of sports but greater plans have been made to change and uplift the sporting scenario in Haldia.
